'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

The evidence is unmistakable why Arsenal are now many people's favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Examine their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have overcome all of them in the current season, but lost 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title target.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but rival sides still don't know how to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Credentials

What is especially notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents face difficulties. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with belief and determination.
